ISLAMABAD: In a bid to prevent
the use of Compacted Organic Gas (CNG) in automobiles and off set the gas
problems, the govt on Wednesday brought
up costs of CNG by as much as Rs 5.36 per kilogramme (Kg).The improve has been
created due to Gas Facilities Growth Cess (GIDC). Previously, GIDC amount in
region-1 was Rs 263 per thousand English Heat Device (mmbtu) and Rs200 per
mmbtu in region-2. Now, the govt has enforced a consistent amount of Rs300 per
mmbtu in both places resulting in a improve in CNG costs. According to a notice
the Oil and Gas Regulating Power (Ogra) on Wednesday, the cost of CNG has been
improved to Rs76.35 per kg from Rs74.25 per kg applying an improve of Rs2.1 per
kg in Area I (Potohar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan).
Similarly the customers in Area
II (Sindh, Punjab, and its places not including Potohar) would experience
improve of Rs5.36 per kg increasing its cost from Rs66.14 to Rs71.5 per kg. The
CNG market has refused the latest cost improve declaring that CNG channels are
already not getting enough gas and therefore improve in CNG cost is
unjustified. Chair All Pakistan CNG Organization Ghyas Paracha said that CNG
market is also struggling due to gas fill losing and improve in the cost of gas
would add miseries of CNG market. Latest News update is available at Javeed
